Februllage Daily collage challenge

To really push my collage to the next level I decided to join in the daily collage challenge run by Edinburgh Collage Collective and the Scandinavian Collage Museum on Instagram. I have already been involved with a Edinburgh Collage Collective postcard Challenge, which was completely analog.

This challenge involves a daily prompt throughout February. And you post them to Instagram tagging them with #februllage and #februllage2019. And you can do either analog or digital collage.

My method has been to sit down and do up to 4 collages in advance since I find it hard to focus on just doing one, I often jump forward then the ideas allow me to fill in the gaps. I've been making them in almost literal terms as it is easier. But I am trying to interpret each word differently and develop and looser style.

It has been a great way to develop my style and build up a portfolio of pieces. I feel Instagram has a wide audience of collage artists with whom I am getting to know and support each other. I have days where I upload a photo and think it looks rubbish but then someone will comment saying its good and it really makes you feel you're improving.

My main aim is to develop my own style so that I can produce bigger and better pieces.

I will be adding to my Instgram @loobyroux long after Februrary so give me a follow.
