Holy Island Digital Editing 12th January

(f/7.1, ISO-100, Exposure 1/200)

I thought I would have to do a lot more to this image but I really just needed to straighten it out with the purpose to make a mirror image. I actually took loads of shots of this particular view before finding the right frame. I also waited for the sun to come out from behind some clouds and hit the castle while giving enough highlight on the railing.

I used the symmetry to create this mirror effect photo. I flipped the original image then printed both out and manually assembled them.

The framing and the focus was the key behind this image. I had to literally poke my lens through the hole in the wall to focus on the castle and boat then keep my finger on the trigger until I framed it then pressed fire. The image below demonstrates an attempt.
The only thing I did to this image was straighten it up and slightly underexpose.

(f/6.2, ISO-100, Exposure 1/160)

When I crouched down in the reeds to take this photo I initially used my 18-55mm lens. then switched up for my 35mm lens. This really added depth of field and even though it was blowing a gale I managed to find a little shelter and focus on some of the closer reeds.
I cropped it so that the foreground was more in frame with the rest of the scene. I brought up the expore a little to soften the background and I desaturated a little to add to that.

I created a mirror image with this photo too as I love the intertwining of the various weeds and reeds along the join.

Mirror imagery became a key factor in taking some of my photos. The act of talking photos for me is fun and I enjoy it but sometimes its nice to set yourself a challenge. I wanted to juxtapose some play alongside my analog photos. Make something interesting out of an ordinary scene. Whilst demonstrating the advantages of digital photography.
